  Breakfast Recipes

 Grandpa Myers Oatmeal
  • 1 Med. potato, peeled and cut into 1/2 inch cubes
  • 1 Slice raw bacon cut into 1/4 inch pieces
  • Water
  • Quick (not instant) oatmeal
Directions:
Place potato and bacon in sauce pan. (Do not cook bacon first) Put enough water in pan to just cover the potatoes. Cook until almost tender and then toss in a handful or so of oatmeal. Cook for however long it takes to cook the oatmeal and potatoes. Don't worry, the bacon will be fully cooked. Should be fairly thick. Do not add sugar, margarine, milk or anything else you would normally add to your morning oatmeal.

Comments:
This is a very different recipe, so I'm told, but is what my Grandpa used to fix for me on chilly mornings. It's what you'd call a "stick to the ribs" breakfast. I still fix it for myself all year round. Grandpa said it was a good one to eat before heading to the river to fish - kept him going til noon!
